Que Pasa? – Anchorage

Help out at the first Anchorage Children’s Health Festival Saturday, August 9 at the Delaney Park Strip from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The fair will provide recreational activities, health screenings, educational activities and nutrition education to Anchorage kids.

Volunteers are needed in one-hour time slots.

Explore Anchorage Municipal park trails with an experienced cyclist Thursday, July 17 at 6 p.m. at Hilltop Ski Area. Improve your riding skills and try some trails that are new to you. Bikes must be in good working condition and helmets are required. $10 participation fee. Register by calling Selkregg Chalet at 343-6992.

Head to the Muldoon Library for Summer of STEM Thursday, July 17 and July 31 at 4 p.m. Fun science experiments of all kinds including chemistry, physics, & math. The library will provide a science lab book to take notes on your experiments all summer long.

Come out this Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium campus for Southcentral Foundation’s annual Employee and Community Assistance Fund Summer Sale. Not only will there be the usual household goods, but you’ll also find artwork and even Girl Scout cookies. See you there!

Have you been to Bailiwick yet? It’s Anchorage’s new nifty, thrifty, kitschy store next to the 5th Avenue Parking Garage elevators.

They are having a Second Friday gallery event July 11 from 5-9 p.m. featuring local Alaska illustrators/ artists Lee Post and Lucas Elliott.

Lee Post’s show “Never Play Fair” is an irreverent tour of Anchorage’s greatest neighborhoods. Lucas Elliott shows his character and Alaskan illustrations. Enjoy gourmet cupcake creations, meet the artists and browse the shop.

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is presenting the world premiere of “Safe in the Village,” a movie for Alaska Native teens about the importance of having positive role models, setting goals and making positive life choices.

This free, public viewing is Thursday, July 10 at 6 p.m. at the Alaska Native Cultural Charter School.
