Join Scared Scriptless Improv, Alaska’s longest running improv troupe, for a 6-week intro to improv course. They’ll talk about the fundamentals of improvisational comedy and play some of their most popular on stage games. All ages and senses of humor are welcome! It’s $80 for the course, which starts Sept. 20 from 7-9 at the Snow Goose Theater.

Mexican Independence Day Celebration

 

Celebrate Mexican Independence Day Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Egan Center from 3-7 p.m. This free event will feature Mexican Jorge Ibarria who will delight the audience with his charro rope artistry. Enjoy Mexican folklore dances, live mariachi music, ranchero singers, face painting artist, re-enactment of the call for independence and two contests — one for children dressed in traditional Mexican outfits and for the adults, a best tamale contest. ¡Viva Mexico!

The second weekend of the Autumn Classics concert series kicks off this Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. Violinist Chee-Yun will perform a Brahms Violin Sonata and Le Grand Tango by Piazzolla. Violist Marcus Thompson and pianist Natasha Paremski will be featured on the Bach Sonata for Viola and Piano. Cellist Zuill Bailey and Paremski will present the Britten Cello Sonata.
