Learn how to handle surprise attacks while walking or running on Anchorage trails. Skinny Raven Sports is hosting two free Runsafer workshops August 20 and 21 teaching you what to do if you’re attacked on the trails.
The clinics will be taught by two-time Olympian Todd Williams who is also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. During the free 60-minute clinics, Williams teaches basic self-defense moves anyone can use if attacked unexpectly, such as targets to go after, grip-breaking, countering an attack and other techniques designed to protect yourself.

Get an inside look at the fashion industry at the Loussac Fashion Double Feature Saturday, August 23 starting at noon. They’ll be showing two films set in the world of fashion – come watch the world of runways, models, and photo shoots!
All films are free and open to the public.

Ever dreamed of being on stage? Alaska Theatre Of Youth is having open auditions for “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” and “The Three Musketeers” August 24 and 25 at their rehearsal space at 610 W. Fireweed Lane.
Auditioners should prepare a short song to be performed without accompaniment. All auditioners are encouraged to memorize a short monologue/passage from any play to recite from memory (30-60 seconds max). A passage to read aloud will be provided for those without a prepared piece.
Q-Club is a safe and welcoming meet-up for LGBTQ teens and their allies. Youth ages 14-18, make friends and have fun at this club just for you Thursday, August 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Loussac Library.
