The Anchorage Museum is organizing a workshop titled “Dreams for My City,” which will take place at the Museum on December 14th, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The workshop is in conjunction with an effort by the Museum for the United Nations called My Mark: My City, aimed at cultivating a young network of local changemakers and innovators to imagine and create solutions to climate change. The goal of the event is to gather high school-aged youth to creatively envision the future of Anchorage, especially as it relates to climate change and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The event is designed to be youth-driven and provide participants the space, opportunity and resources to be creative and critical thinkers.

This workshop for teens, ages 14-18, will teach you how to more effectively talk about local, statewide, and national issues you care about. They will cover how you can find information about elected officials, how you can talk to decision makers about issue important to you, and how to find people to help you make positive changes in your community. They welcome anyone who is passionate about civic engagement, those who just want to learn a little bit more about how to have a voice in the community, and anyone in between. This workshop is geared toward teens. If you'd be interested in one of our general workshops for all ages, check out www.fightcancer.org/alaska for times and dates. No experience is necessary. Youth stories, voices and original ideas will be on display as well as some familiar stories as @alaskateenmedia celebrates 15 years of youth on the radio! Friday, October 25, from 7 to 9 PM at the Wilda Marston Theater. More information at link in bio.

EXTRACURRICULAR VOLUME 1. 10/18/2019 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 West Wing, Third Floor An immersive evening of artist interventions, including live painting, a skate performance featuring a multi-media art installation and hands-on lab to transform everyday items into something new. Included with museum admission (free for museum members).

Free event at Beartooth Theatre Friday October 18th from 12:30-3 p.m. Alaska Permanent Capital Management is hosting an event for teens and their chaperones as part of their Empowered Teens Smart Women series. They will be showing a documentary film “Dream, Girl”, which showcases the stories of inspiring & ambitious female entrepreneurs. Afterward the teens are invited to mingle with local powerful female leaders from a variety of industries. Free but tickets must be reserved through Brown Bag Tickets.

Storytelling Saturday Theatre every Saturday at the @anchoragemuseum! Learn about our community’s many cultures during this family-friendly, live performance of fairy tales and other cultural stories. More information at link in bio.
