Alaska girls age 9-19, here’s your chance to ski with some awesome women!

Come spend the afternoon with the Olympians Kikkan Randall and Holly Brooks, members of the US Ski Team and the APU Nordic Ski Team, and many other inspirational Alaska female athletes Saturday, Oct. 26 from noon-3 p.m. at East High School.

There will be multi-sport activity stations, group fitness, healthy snacks, inspirational stories, and an autograph session. Meet new friends, learn new skills and have an AWESOME time celebrating the fact that strong, happy girls are successful girls! No previous ski skills necessary.

Learn to toprock, freeze and float with Anchorage break dancing instructor Brigirl Snap Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Fairview Rec Center. Classes are $10 per session. There are sessions in October, November and December. For more information on how to sign up call 343-4130.

Registration is now open for Skinny Raven Sports’ Frightening 4K race Saturday, Oct. 26. This family costume race includes special candy “aid” stations each kilometer and is the kickoff to the downtown Trick or Treat Street event. Registration is $30 and you get a rad shirt. Make the most of your in-service day and head to the Fairview Rec Center Friday, Oct. 18, for a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Tournament will put your basketball skills to the test and give your team the chance to be crowned champions.

Sign up your team at any of the Anchorage Recreation Centers before Oct. 9. The cost is $15 per team. For more information call 343-4130.
