Japanese Jazz @ UAA

 

Jazz from Japan! Instrumental jazz phenomenon Ai Kuwabara Trio Project makes their American debut Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the UAA Fine Arts Building at 7:30 p.m.  Led by 22-year-old piano prodigy Ai Kuwabara, this band has stolen the attention of the entire jazz community in Japan. The band’s music is urban contemporary jazz with a strong, experimental feel and a flavor of funk. Don’t miss this one-time chance to hear unique, awesome music! This concert is FREE!

University Wind Ensemble Free Performances

 

The University Wind Ensemble will present a FREE series of concerts as part of their Fall Tour 2013. Music selections space 200 years, including works for winds by Joseph Haydn, Adam Gorb, Fergal Carroll, Brent Heisinger, and John Philip Sousa.

The group will perform Thursday, Nov. 7, at East High School and Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Dimond at 7 p.m.

Open Mic @ Middle Way Cafe

It’s time again for another open mic for the under 21 crowd. Bring your instrument, relax, and get some stage chops with a friendly audience Friday, Oct. 25 at Middleway Cafe from 5-7 p.m. You can sign up in advance by emailing anchoragemusiccoop@gmail.com or just show up! Under 21 folks get preference and Over 21 folks get to play afterwards.

Fall POPS Concert @ East

 

The Grammy award-winning East High School Music Department presents its Fall Pops concert Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. Come hear the same department that boasts a last year’s American Idol finalist and dozens of incredibly talented vocalists and instrumentalists. Music by Bruno Mars, Fleetwood Mac and even the Monster Mash. Don’t miss this musical extravaganza. Admission is FREE and open to the public.
