Calling all artists!

The Chugach National Forest in partnership with the Alaska State Council on the Arts and Alaska Geographic, are looking for Alaska artists to create one-of-a-kind ornaments for the 2015 People’s Tree that will stand tall in front of the U.S. Capitol Building during the 2015 holiday season. This is the first time that Alaska has been chosen to provide the tree that will be placed in the Capitol. The designs of these ornaments will be used as inspiration for 5,000 more ornaments made by students and community members across Alaska. Selected ornaments will decorate the People’s Tree provided by the Chugach National Forest and various smaller trees in offices throughout the Capitol and other buildings in Washington D.C. Selected artists may also have the opportunity to serve as ambassadors for this project, both in Alaska and in Washington, D.C.

The deadline to submit is December 22!
