Interested in what Anchorage Youth Court is all about? Friday and Saturday, October 24 & 25, join AYC for an intensive new member class. The schedule is as follows and will be held at the AYC office (838 W. 4th Avenue):

Friday, October 24: 8 am – 3 pm (in-service day for ASD)
Saturday, October 25: 10 am – 3 pm
Bar Exam – Saturday, November 8: 12 – 1:30 pm

Watch the 1959 Ed Wood sci-fi classic film “Plan 9 from Outer Space,” Thursday, October 9 at 7 p.m., then enjoy a fun, informal conversation with UAA planetarium manager Omega Smith about the possibilities of life in outer space and what alien life might look like.

Earn extra cash by becoming an awesome babysitter. Spenard Recreation Center is offering a babysitting class October 17 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for youth ages 11-15. This class will provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. Registration cost is $65. Do you like the History Channel, or the show “Bones?” Do you have an interest in sociology or psychology? The Arc of Anchorage will be hosting Rhianna C. Rogers, Ph.D., RPA., a professional archaeologist from the State University of New York Friday, September 26 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Dr. Rogers is trained in anthropology, archaeology, and as a historian. She will be discussing Mayan, European, and Asiatic artifacts in relation to Mayan archaeology. This event is free! Register with a friend today!

Time is running out to enroll in the next class of the Alaska Military Youth Academy. Class starts on October 1st.

This program is tuition-FREE!

To qualify you must be between the ages of 16 and 18. You must be in need of your high school education – either not enrolled in high school or a GED program or at risk of not graduating with your peers. If you have your GED or HS diploma you are not eligible.

You must attend an orientation session to apply. The next orientation will be held at the Muldoon Job Center Monday, September 22 at 10 a.m.

Time is running out to enroll in the October 1st class of the Alaska Military Youth Academy ~ AMYA
This program is tuition-FREE!

To qualify you must be between the ages of 16 and 18 on the start of the cycle. You must be in need of your high school education; either not enrolled in high school or a GED program or at risk of not graduating with your peers (behind in credits, enrolled and not attending, failing out, finding it difficult to learn in a traditional high school setting). If you have your GED or HS diploma you are not eligible.

You must attend an orientation session in order to apply. The next orientation session is today, September 15th at the Muldoon Job Center starting at 10 a.m.

Having trouble mastering pre-algebra skills? The Muldoon Library offers workshops Wednesdays at 3 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m. to help all ages with middle school, high school, GED and college math skills. Follow-up support provided by a professional presenter.
