This month Day of the Girl is asking young women everywhere to help build awareness about the lack of female role models in today’s media.

From 2006 to 2009, not one female character was depicted in G-rated family films in the field of medical science, as a business leader, in law, or politics.

DOTG wants to hear what you have to say! Reflect on a specific moment in your life when you thought to yourself, “THIS is what it means to be a girl!” They are looking for original stories, poems, artwork, videos, photos, songs, or declarations about what it means to be a girl where you live.

You could be selected to present your piece at the 2nd Annual Girls Speak Out at the United Nations in October!

For more information visit http://dayofthegirlsummit.org/

The deadline to submit is August 1!
