Come to the Anchorage Museum Saturday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. and view the student submissions from the Pupil + Paper project. Students designed wearable paper garments and they will be on display alongside a silent auction to raise money for The Children’s Lunchbox. Admission is $15 for students so don’t miss delicious food, terrific art and the spinning talents of DJ Spencer Lee.
It’s First Friday time! There are so many galleries having opening events it’s impossible to list them all, but this month’s exhibit at Arctic Rose Gallery sounds pretty cool! Xochiquetzal-Tiqun Mexican Folkloric Ballet of Alaska is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month at the Z.J. Loussac Public Library Saturday, Oct. 27 from 2-3:30 p.m. This lively dance group consists of young children, teens and adults. Their mission is to work for peace through cultural understanding. Featuring dances from the states of Jalisco, Michoacán, Sinaloa, Veracruz, and the Tierra Caliente region.
UAA Student Activities is proud to present Lauren Zuniga, a nationally touring poet, Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the UAA Fine Arts Building Recital Hall. She is a three-time National Slam finalist and passionate activist. Admission is $5.
