Attention knitters! Icelandic fashion designer STEiNUNN Sigurdardottir will be presenting a unique and engaging workshop “Rhythm Knitting” at the International Gallery of Contemporary Art Friday, January 24, from 4-6 p.m. This hands-on workshop will engage participants in a collective knitting experience, performed to the beat of a percussionist. Participants are asked to bring knitting needles and coarse yarn of their choice.

Steinnun attended Parsons School of Design in New York and has worked worldwide for top designers such as Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, and Gucci. She is well known for her fashion label “Steinunn” which features knitwear inspired by the Icelandic landscape and her Nordic heritage.

Anchorage’s Pacific Islanders have talent and they’re showing the city what they’ve got at their 2nd annual “Rock the Stage” talent showcase. Head to Clark Middle School Saturday, January 18 from 7-9 p.m. and show your support. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Join artist Drew Michael at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center Wednesday, Jan 15 from 6-9 p.m. for teen mask making. Teens apply traditional and contemporary Alaska Native storytelling concepts to mask making. Students use clay and mixed media to create a mask that conveys his or her unique life story.
