Calling all teen film makers!

As part of the Anchorage International Film Festival, Bear Tooth and Alaska Teen Media Institute will host the “After School Special” Dec. 11, 2014! They’ll screen films directed and produced by Alaska teens!

This is an opportunity for youth filmmakers to show off their work and a chance for Anchorage to see what they have produced!

Anchorage-area youth (ages 12 to 20) may submit their films for the screening!

Que Pasa? – Anchorage

Anchorage Jazz Workshop hosts a weekly jazz jam session Sundays from 4-6 p.m. at Organic Oasis on Spenard. The jam session is open to all middle, high school, college students and adult instrumentalists and vocalists.

Piano, PA, drum set, bass and guitar amps are provided if needed. Bring your instruments and have fun jamming on Jazz, Blues, Latin, and Funk songs!

Baseball, butterflies, water and wind are inspirations for the UAA Dance Ensemble’s opening night performance, Friday, November 7 at 8 p.m. in the Jerry Harper Studio Theatre.

Experience the world premiere of original dance celebrating the power and beauty of nature and change.

Featuring the talents of UAA students and alumni, including the winning trio of the 2014 Big Feat Little Feet creative community challenge presented by Pulse Dance Company as well as Dayoung Yoo.

This month’s Sci-Fi Flicks and Facts at the Anchorage Museum, watch the 1960 sci-fi classic film “Atom Age Vampire,” then enjoy an informal conversation about radiation in medical treatments with Diana Wilson, Southcentral Foundation physician assistant.

The fun starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 6. This event is FREE and open to the public.
