Que Pasa? – Anchorage

Cellist Zuill Bailey returns to Anchorage with pianist Lara Downes and guitarist David Leisner for the 2013 Alaska Airlines Autumn Classics this Friday, Sept. 6. The program features Downes with works from her recent project, “Exiles’ Cafe,” a collection of solos written by composers who spent some portion of their lives in exile from their homeland, including Chopin, Rachmaninov, and Bartok. Leisner and Bailey will perform Falla and Schubert. Concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at APU’s Grant Hall. Tickets start at $24.50. The Autumn Classics runs this weekend and next weekend with different performers each night. First Friday is upon us! That means free art and sometimes food! Cake Studio presents the unique and popular steel artwork of Andy Urion. Andy hand cuts stainless steel into specific shapes and then applies techniques that give colors and other distinct properties to the steel. While taking in the show you can enjoy the sweet tastes of Cake Studio’s coffee, chocolates and pastries this Friday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m.

POWER Teen Center is hiring teens for Peer Outreach Workers. Peer Outreach Workers engage teens in Anchorage to build skills, connect to local resources, and educate on health issues. Conduct outreach on the street, facilitate presentations to teens, and run a drop-in center and clinic downtown.
