The Bicycle Shop and community organizations are partnering with Anchorage School District to provide a free bike safety check and carnival Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the store. Nerd Art Show! Submit your best fan art to the Loussac Library’s Nerd Art Group Show in celebration of “May the 4th Be With You.”

Any and all local artists are invited to submit their work having to do with comics, manga, TV shows, movies, books, games, video games, animation, anime, toys and cartoons.

Artists should bring their artwork framed and ready to hang. Limit four pieces per person. Artwork can be dropped off May 1-4 and will be shown in the library for the whole month.

Celebrate Shakespeare’s 450th birthday this Saturday, April 26, at the Loussac library as UAA professor Toby Widdicombe presents Shakespeare’s sonnets. There will also be a Shakespearian insult contest and a special reading by Queen Elizabeth I. All are welcome from 2-4 p.m. in the Ann Stevens Room. Cosplay is encouraged!
